School Admission Rights & Action Guide

SCHOOL SUPPORT

When a school says no: practical next steps

A calm written process helps families document the issue and request a clear response.

Start with written records

Keep admission forms, emails, assessment reports and notes of verbal refusals. If a school refuses admission or an accommodation verbally, calmly request the decision and reason in writing.

RPwD Act, 2016

The Act recognises autism as a specified disability and contains education and non-discrimination protections. Read the current Act and rules on the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities website.

RTE Act, 2009

The Right to Education framework covers free and compulsory education for children aged six to fourteen, subject to the Act’s provisions. Use the Ministry of Education’s current text and amendments.
