How can I reduce finger-hitting used for sensory seeking?

Asked by AutDHD Editorial

Sensory & oral-motor

Community suggestions included supervised kinetic sand and texture play with rice, rava, wheat or dals; firm theraputty for digging, rolling and squeezing; kneading atta; appropriate theraband activities; and therapist-taught massage or joint-compression routines. Provide safe sensory input proactively, especially during idle periods.

Results may be gradual. Seek an occupational therapist for an individual sensory plan and medical care for swelling, bleeding, persistent pain or injury.

Confirm diet, testing, supplements, medication and treatment decisions with your child’s doctor or a suitably qualified professional. Never stop prescribed medication without the prescribing doctor.
