Ask for their RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) CRR number and verify it free at rciregistration.nic.in — this covers clinical psychologists, speech therapists/audiologists, and special educators. Many behaviour therapists in India don’t have RCI registration, so for them check qualifications (degree in psychology/ABA certification), supervised experience, and references. Red flags: refusing to show credentials, guaranteed “cures,” pressure to pay long-term fees upfront, and centres that won’t let you observe sessions. You have every right to ask — a genuine professional will not be offended.
