Never stop psychiatric medication suddenly, and never based on group advice — sudden stopping can itself cause serious problems. Instead: write down exactly what changed and when (behaviour, sleep, appetite, new movements), and take it to the prescribing doctor promptly — dose adjustment or a medicine change is often possible. It’s also fair to ask the doctor: “What is this medicine for, what improvement should I expect, by when, and how will we decide to stop?” Medication decisions for a child belong with a qualified child psychiatrist who examines the child, full stop.
