How effective is therapy delivered at home?

Asked by AutDHD Editorial

Therapy choices & provider quality

Home therapy can be effective when goals concern daily routines, feeding, toileting, communication or behaviour in the home environment. Centre therapy may offer equipment, structured spaces and peer interaction. Outcomes depend more on assessment quality, therapist skill, parent coaching, consistency and measurable goals than on location alone.

Ask how progress will be measured, how parents will be trained, and how skills will generalise beyond the session.

Confirm diet, testing, supplements, medication and treatment decisions with your child’s doctor or a suitably qualified professional. Never stop prescribed medication without the prescribing doctor.
