Gut research in autism is ongoing, but nothing is proven as a treatment for autism itself. Reasonable, low-risk steps: gut-friendly everyday foods, curd/fermented foods if tolerated, and deworming as per the standard national schedule that all children follow. Avoid expensive “gut protocols,” heavy-metal detoxes, or supplement stacks sold online — these are not evidence-based and can be harmful. If your child has real GI symptoms (chronic constipation, diarrhoea, pain), see a paediatric gastroenterologist.
