Repeating chunks of language (scripts, dialogues) is called gestalt language processing (GLP), and it is a valid route to real communication — the scripts are broken down into flexible phrases and then original sentences, in stages. What helps: a speech therapist specifically experienced with GLP/Natural Language Acquisition, acknowledging his scripts (they carry meaning) instead of ignoring them, modelling short flexible phrases, and lots of low-demand, follow-his-interest interaction. Ask any prospective therapist directly: “What stage of gestalt processing is my child at, and what’s the plan for the next stage?” Their answer tells you a lot.
